Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 8, 2026
eBikeIQ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address (for login and account recovery)
- Display name (optional, for personalization)
Bike and Rider Data
To provide range predictions, we store:
- Bike specifications (brand, model, battery size, motor type, weight)
- Rider weight and gear weight
- Saved rides and predictions
Ride Logging Data
When you log completed rides, we collect:
- Ride outcome (completed or cut short)
- Battery remaining percentage
- Conditions (weather, terrain, power usage notes)
- Actual energy consumed (if you provide it)
- Actual distance and elevation (if different from planned route)
2. Anonymous Analytics Data
How It Works: When you log actual ride results (optional feature), we collect anonymous, aggregated performance data to improve battery predictions for all users. This data cannot be used to identify you personally and helps make eBikeIQ smarter over time.
When Data is Collected
Anonymous analytics are submitted only when you:
- Log actual ride results after completing a ride (clicking "Log actual results" button)
- Have data sharing enabled in your account settings (enabled by default, you can opt-out anytime)
If you never log rides, no analytics are collected. Simply planning rides does not share data.
What We Collect Anonymously
| Data Type |
Purpose |
Example Impact |
| Bike brand, model, motor type |
Improve predictions for specific bikes |
"DJI Avinox motors are 12% more efficient than predicted" |
| Battery size, bike weight |
Calibrate efficiency calculations |
"800Wh batteries lose 15% capacity in cold weather" |
| Ride distance, elevation, terrain |
Understand real-world usage patterns |
"Singletrack uses 22% more energy than gravel" |
| Predicted vs actual battery used |
Measure and improve prediction accuracy |
"Algorithm is 94% accurate (up from 87% at launch)" |
| Temperature, assist mode, riding style |
Model environmental and usage impacts |
"Turbo mode uses 2.1x more energy than Trail mode" |
| Ride outcome (success/insufficient battery) |
Identify when predictions are too optimistic |
"Users with X setup ran short 8% of the time" |
What We Do NOT Collect
- Your name or email (not linked to analytics)
- GPS coordinates or location data
- Ride names or personal notes
- IP addresses in analytics
- Any data that could identify you personally
How Anonymous Data May Be Used
- Improve prediction accuracy for all users
- Generate aggregated industry reports (e.g., "Motor X averages 20 Wh/mile")
- Share anonymized insights with bike manufacturers and industry partners
- Publish general statistics about e-bike usage patterns
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the service: Calculate range predictions based on your bike and ride data
- Sync across devices: Store your bikes and rides in the cloud (if you create an account)
- Improve predictions: Use logged ride feedback to make predictions more accurate
- Industry insights: Generate anonymous, aggregated reports for partners
4. How Crowd-Sourced Data Improves Predictions
Community Learning
eBikeIQ uses aggregated data from thousands of real rides to continuously improve battery predictions:
- Pattern Recognition: "500+ rides with Bosch CX motors show 13 Wh/mile average on pavement"
- Error Correction: "Cold weather impact was underestimated by 18%, now corrected"
- Motor Efficiency: "DJI Avinox achieves 15% better range than similar motors"
- Terrain Multipliers: "Singletrack uses 1.22x energy vs gravel (was 1.15x)"
Your Contribution
When you log ride results, you help:
- Make predictions more accurate for all riders with your bike
- Improve terrain and weather modeling
- Validate new motor profiles
- Benefit the entire e-bike community
In your Settings, you can see your contribution stats: "You've shared 23 rides • Algorithm trained on 15,847 total rides"
Algorithm Updates
As we collect more data, we periodically update prediction coefficients:
- Updates are applied automatically (no app reinstall needed)
- Version history and changelog available in Settings
- Transparency: We show which patterns influenced each update
5. Data Storage and Security
- Account data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS)
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
- We do not sell your personal information
- Anonymous analytics data is stored separately from account data
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following services:
- Supabase: Authentication and data storage
- Google Sign-In: Optional login method
- Apple Sign-In: Optional login method (coming soon)
- Open-Meteo: Auto-detect temperature (uses your approximate location temporarily, not stored)
7. Your Rights and Choices
You Can:
- Use without an account: All features work locally without creating an account
- Opt out of data sharing: Disable "Share ride data to improve predictions" in Settings → Privacy (available when signed in)
- Delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete Account (permanently removes all your data)
- Export your data: Contact us to request a copy of your stored data
